2. APPENDIX - GLOSSARY
Module 1: “Ways of transition to natural energy and combating climate
change”
The strategy which is expressed by reducing the
"Adaptation" vulnerability of ecosystems and socio-economic systems,
strategy while strengthening their resilience to the inevitable
effects of an ever-changing climate.
The change in the state of the climate that can be
identified (e.g., by using statistical tests) by changes in the

"Mitigation" The gradual reduction of greenhouse gas emissions
strategy responsible for global warming, i.e. trying to halt climate
change.
Renewable The energy sources that replenish (or renew themselves)
energy sources naturally, such as solar, water, and tidal energy.
Conscious, optimal and responsible use of available
Sustainable natural resources, goods and services on different levels
consumption (individuals, households, communities, local groups,
business environments, local governments, country's
official government and international organizations).
